of San Luis Obispo County

In the past, in San Luis Obispo County, you could find information and gain access to employment, training, education, career counseling, and related resources in a variety of ways. The problem was this information was not readily available and considerable time and travel was needed to access it.

The Solution: The One-Stop Career Centers of San Luis Obispo County.

In 1998 Congress passed the federal Workforce Investment Act. The new law requires the consolidation of some 60 federal and state job training and employment programs under the supervision of local policy boards, called "Workforce Investment Boards." The new law requires delivery of training and employment services through local One-Stop Career Centers.

The mission of the One-Stop Career Center System is to provide services for residents of San Luis Obispo County by meeting the needs of employers and those seeking jobs, education and training.
